The Buckles Family

Pretty cool that Taylor made the Washington Post! Sounds like a fun event!

I read your tweets and congrats on Soloman!!! How exciting!!

Hi
I just wanted to say it was a pleasure meeting you and your wonderful family at Islands of Adventure today, Best wishes to you all and Merry Christmas!

I wanted to tell you that there are several people who were suffering from paralysis who are walking (using braces) after ADULT stem cell treatment in Portugal. This was announced about 2 years ago by the patients involved at a press conference on the steps of the Kansas state capitol building. Sorry to say, it did not even make a mention in the local newspaper! It was adult stem cells--not embryonic stem cells. They took nasal mucosa from the patients and implanted it in the site of the break in the spinal cord. You may think this sounds crazy, but I encourage you to look into it for your daughter. If you would like to see the press release, please reply to this and I will mail it to you.

wow ... this is incredible .... i saw a documentary on tv this evening about the girls when they were babies. i googled them and found this. they are such beautiful girls. i am sorry to hear that your other daughter has had a severe set back too. Wow ... you have had a tough few years.
As we say in Dublin ... fair play to ye ... ye are doing a great job. i wish ye all the best and sincerely hope all your girls grow into healthy adults. they are lucky to have you as parents.

I saw your family's story tonight and was blessed to see that as a young couple, you made the decision to be a whole family. As a military spouse myself, I know the difficulty of the lifestyle, and you and your family on top of that have taken on the challenge of conjoined twins to show that love is strong. I would like to give you thanks and blessings as your life continues. God Bless.

Hello
I'm Sharon I have a curiosity with twins and came upon your family's page. Hey your doing a great job there, you should be very proud of your family and especially your twins. I'm in Australia and found it unusual for the first day of school photo's to not have the girls in a uniform as we have school uniforms for all our schools here in Australia.
regards
Sharon

Saw you and the girls on an old episode of Ace of Cakes this weekend. Great seeing you and the fun gang on Ace of Cakes doing something great for Ronald McDonald House!!!

I just saw you and the kids on Ace of Cakes. The girls always look so calm and happy despite the chaos of their lives. You are very lucky and seem like a wonderful family.

What truly beautiful little girls these are. It just goes to show that although the odds seem insurmountable anything is possible.
Best wishes,
Sally (Melbourne, Australia)

I had planned so much to watch the new show, but something came up and I missed it. I hope that they replay it someday soon.
Your three girls are adorable and I so much enjoy watching them grow. Please keep up your messages.

I am most truly touched by your story. May god continue to bless this family

Hello Coach Buckles and Family,
I was in your English class at Forest Park when you told the class that you were pregnant. I can remember when you told us you were having twins and the news that they were conjoined. I am so glad to know that Erin and Jade are doing well. The girls are strong as are you and the rest of your family. It is exciting to see Erin walking. I hope all is well and that you and your family are well.

Thats realy a miracle, they are the most beautiful girls in the world! I hope they live into adulthood, maybe get seperated into they're own lives and have a wonderful life!

Melissa,
I don't know what Taylor's symptoms are but I think I might have had it (based on a friends symtoms compared to mine) back in Sept. I missed one day of school. It wasn't really that bad but I think by now it may take more out of people. I hope Taylor gets better FAST and that Erin doesn't get this. You shouldnt' be surprised if Taylor coughs a lot. I did that.
Lianne

Just saw your Tweet about Taylor. My prayers are with her that she fights this flu and that Erin and Jade don't get it
Hang in there Taylor, hope you feel better soon

I just watched the vids of Erin walking, and OMG GO ERIN! That's awesome!!

Melissa - I don't think I've ever posted a comment before, but I've followed your story for years. I just had to pass on huge CONGRATS to Erin on walking at KK!! Wow, so exciting. I just know she's going to walk on her own someday. Way to go, Erin!

Hi Melissa,
I noticed on Twitter that Jade has been sick with a virus. I think it may be the same thing I had about a week ago. I had a horrible cough; and a fever that went away with Motrin. I hope that she recovers quick.
Lianne

I am a grandma and a great-grandma, but all my family is spread all over the country. I so much enjoy reading about your wonderful family and watching the children grow. I love their back to school pictures, it would be fun to see last years next to this years to see how much they have changed. It is so nice that you were able to get a job at the girls school. I still don't know how you do it all, you have so much on your plate. Your family is wonderful. Keep the updates coming.

Dear Buckles Family,
I am a college student working on getting towards a doctorate in physical therapy and I just wanted to let you know that I was touched by your story and found it to be very inspiring. Someday I hope to work with children much like your own. You have a beautiful family and I wish you all the best!
Much love,
Sarah

Your story is truly a blessing. I recently heard about the story from a coworker who asked me if i was related to your family. I then asked my father who said Kevin is our cousin and he told me the whole story. The girls are BEAUTIFUL and truly a blessing. God bless.

Hey Melissa your girls are growing so fast. They are absolutely beautiful. Taylor is as well!! Hope life continues to bring you many blessings and miracles. God knows what he is doing!!

Hey there Erin & Jade and the entire Buckles family! I found your website through doing some research on conjoined twins. You see, I myself was diagnosed pregnant with conjoined twins just 7 weeks ago at my 16 week gestational appointment. Our girls were also conjoined at the chest but were sharing a badly deformed heart and also shared a liver. The doctor's only gave them a 1% chance at making it to term alive and gave us the unfortunate news that our baby girls' heart was "incompatible with life". With the doctor's guidance we decided to terminate. I almost hate to type that word because to me it makes it sound like a simple decision. In a list of terrible choices we feel like we made the best choice for our babies. Our daughter's names are Heaven Lee & Destiny.
These past few weeks have been heartwrenching and almost unbearable. I am very much in love with your girls. It's weird because once you find out your pregnant with twins you feel like you're part of this very small group of women that get to experience that. But once you find out you're pregnant with conjoined twins that group gets even smaller. I feel in some ways connected to your family, and your girls. Thank you for sharing your story with the world. I can't wait to watch them grow and thrive!

Buckle's Family,
Today I went to the Parris Island Parade Deck to watch the Silent Drill Platoon, as they were here visiting the Marine Corps Bases here in Beaufort ,SC. As I sat in the bleachers I was approached by your husband. See I have twin boys (Anthony and Andrew) and as I am sure everyone with multiples knows that when you see multiples you are drawn to them. As my neighbor and I spoke to your husband we talked about having twins, and he told us about your little girls. As soon as he said that they were born at the same time, becuase they were conjoined twins, it clicked I rembered watching your special when I was expecting my boys. I watched everything I could get my hands on to learn about what was to come. As we were talking we were approached by a Lcpl and my neighbor and I were asked to move. Being DI wives we just got up and said " Yet again DI wives get shuffled down " Your husband was very gracious and had us moved to the VIP section to get the boys out of the heat. I thank him for that bit of kindness. It really ment a lot to us. Plus Anthony and Andrew were able to sit and be still through the ceremony. He told us about your blog and that's where I am now. I just want to tell you how brave you and your family is. My boys were born June 19, 2008 at 34 weeks and did really well. But as they got older we realized that Baby B (Andrew) was not thriving the way his brother was. And that's when we learned of his problems. I can only imagine the kind of strength you must have to be able to watch your little girls be wheeled away for surgery. And on top of all that still maintain what it takes to be a Marine Corps Family. It makes me happy to see them so well. It makes me feel better about the hurdles that we have to cross with Andrew, to see that it can be done. And that as frail as we might think they are, they are fighters. I can only hope that my boys will strive and fight through their medical problems. Even though Andrew's are a lot more serious, Anthony's are just as important. You are doing a wonderful job, your children are beautiful. God Bless your family and may your lives be happy and full.
Take Care,
Jenn Kahler

Hi Melissa,
WOW $3,000 is a lot! Espeically for a 13 year old girl.
I am very suprised.
! I hope Erin and Jade are excited for Kindergarten and that Taylor is looking forward to 2nd grade! Your girls are growing up fast!
Take Care,
Lianne

I applaud the love and courage it takes to provide all of these children with the strength of character they need to be good people.
Mom, you are a ver articulate writer, I'd love to read a book you write.
Thanks for sharing your journey.
Helena

Your story is so touching. Having to deal with conjoined twins and all that comes with that and then to have to take on another child being ill, you are very stong people and I will be praying for you. Your children are beautiful and I hope everything is all uphill from now on. Prayers are with you from Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada.

You have a beautiful family, I have read some of the "nasty" comments and just wanted you to know I do not agree with them. You didn't ask for the health problems and you are right to ask for help. I will keep you all in my prayers. I hope the Disney World trip happens for you and them. It truly would be a wonderful trip. (I say this as I am sitting in my hotel room overlooking Disneyland in CA!)
take care, God bless you all,
cheryl

Hello. I am a college student doing a research paper when I stumbled across your website. I would just like to say that your story is a truly amazing one and I wish you and your entire family the best of luck and many years of happiness!

You two are amazing parents and your story is an inspiration. It gives people who may have lost hope a chance to regain their spirit. From the short time I saw Erin she is a sweet well mannered child and you two should be commended. As she flew away today i could see the anticipation in your eyes but as the chopper got higher in the air she was floating on God's hand. i pray that she gains a little more strengh each and everyday as well as Taylor. Nothing happens until the creator says so and you have been faithful and true so your time draws near.
May God continue to Bless the Buckles Family
~Britney (SHC)

Wow, talk about miracles!
Thank goodness your children are well and alive, though they've been through so many hardships!
I'm Diana and my twin sister Crystal; we've never been through what your children have been through, since we are fraternal twins.
Good luck in life!
-Diana and Crystal

Congrats on Taylor being chosen for Make a Sish! Although I can understand that you wished she wasn't eligible. And I liked the idea of meeting President Obama in Air Force 1 on the way to Disneyworld. Sounds perfect. :-D
